Hey! My name is Dana and I’d like to welcome you to my blog about triathlons, travel & outdoor adventures. I am a wild child who loves to go on crazy adventures. Traveling is a passion, I love exploring other parts of the world and snapping photos.
On November 9, 2016 I had an itch to start a new instagram account to document my fitness journey because for those who know me, I forget stuff [not just boring information but actual FUN times such as vacations/outdoorsy trips] and that’s why I created a new account called Sweatventure, I wanted to be able to look back and see how far I’ve come.
Some of you might be asking, why Sweatventure?
I used to be called a Tomboy and I did not used to embrace my tomboyish characteristics, I wanted to be like everyone else my age [wearing make up and dressing up], I might point out; I was very bad at it! Fast, forward to today, I love who I am! I love dressing up but more than anything I live for adventure. I get high off spontaneous weekend getaway trips. There is nothing ordinary about packing your bags and going on adventures. I grew up with parents who introduced me to athletics and I cannot be more thankful to them. From ever since I can remember, we camped out, swam in lakes, climbed mountains and hiked trails it was loads of FUN! Great times! I only wish I had more photos, and I don’t want to feel like that ever again. That’s why I document all the bits and pieces of my life journey. Follow me on Instagram @sweatventure to see what I live for.
In June, 2016 I graduated college [Go Green!] and got my first GARMIN WATCH and that is when I found comfort in racing triathlons! Love for Long Distance racing was born. I signed up for my very first half iron distance race. Signing up was just the beginning of an ultimate endurance challenge. A test of my physical and mental willpower and a push beyond my limits but that’s for another story. Fast forward to the finish line, where I earned a spot at the Long Distance World Championships in Penticton 2017. Like WOAH!
In February, 2017 I was offered a spot as a 2017 Sponsored Athlete for the Tri To Finish organization, based in Michigan. I am beyond excited to be part this incredible organization and excited to meet the team in upcoming months. I am hoping I can contribute to the triathlon community by sharing my experiences and ideas with each one of you and positively inspire you to get on your fitness path and catch us at one of the TTF events this year.
Currently, I am in training for the Gulf Coast Ironman70.3, so far it’s been a hella ride with ups and downs but nothing worthwhile comes easy, am I right!
SO there you have it, all my athletic endeavors for past year or so, I am excited to share all my upcoming adventures with you.
